      @EUCommission So you're starting by closing all your accounts on X, right?

        @BartV @EUCommission That would be a good start. And while you're at it, start a campaign to stimulate the usage of distributed social media like Mastodon.

          @EUCommission it would be cool if they had to pay per violation, and not just once

            @EUCommission
            Good and frankly long overdue step.

            Furthermore, as others have already mentioned, withdrawing from that platform would also be a correct step. Yes, it's a bit different from the position of institution since you need to reach people somehow (kind of like journalists need to stick to even some nasty spaces) however:

            A) That corner of space should be under YOUR control. Basically what you're doing with Mastodon presence is the way to go. Your instance, your infrastructure, without reliance on external actors, especially now

            B) It must COMPLEMENT the official channels, not replace them. Your social outreach must not become what the US institutions (and I use the term loosely) are doing.

            So yes, you're walking in the right direction and there's still room for growth.
            Also, probably the most important thing: Social media must be "people first" not "engagement first".

              @EUCommission you should have read my conversations. He was semi-normal, then we injected him into Hitler. He got a Israel lobotomy and now it's Mussolini. 👁️ https://www.youtube.com/live/0MDfKTJQQyE?si=hdFowGGNa66JuZll

                @EUCommission This really does look like a deliberate “we’ll find the edge by hitting it” strategy. It’s very old-school Silicon Valley, almost nostalgic in a bad way. Move fast, ship first, apologize later, let regulators chase you. That approach worked in a world where the worst thing you broke was a photo sharing app or a social graph.

                  @EUCommission Making companies that breach the DSA pay a little fee, won't work. Companies that continuously and deliberately breach the DSA and don't cooperate with the European authorities must be banned for 1 year at least nad 2 years for the 2nd time. Companies that continue to violate European law should be banned permanently. Just an idea, but you gotta do something. And how about not using X? That would be a really great start!

                    @EUCommission Ok. BUT leave X now. You already have an own instance and a vicepresident in mastodon @HennaVirkkunen . Just follow the leader. You are working for the enemy everytime you post on X.

                          @EUCommission I understand it's because of the legal mandate to presume innocence, but that "May" is doing a LOOOOOOT of heavy lifting. I'm surprised that the EU institutions aren't bankrolling a transition to the Fediverse right now.

                                  @EUCommission Could you clarify what do you mean with "antisemitic content"? Many organizations turning to neo-fascism use that as an umbrella term to censor, for example, the human rights and the self-determination of the Palestinian people.

                                        @EUCommission Interesting. The question of the investigation is raised every day, but it's by no means possible to consider the right answer to the end.
