@inkican What I struggled with when reading Brave New World was, what's so dystopian about it? 99.9% of the people are happy. They enjoy their work and have plenty of leisure time doing fun stuff with their friends. How is this bad? Sure, it's shallow and purile, but so what? Are we saying that vast human suffering is justified by better art? Huxley had to introduce an ignorant bigot from offstage to try to make this look bad.

With hindsight, perhaps this joke is a bit too obscure.
